Appassionata, Pastoral, Cuckoo,
Moonlight, Waldstein, and Lebewohl: My week
Has run L.B.'s piano gamut through,
With no pause whatsoever on the Presto
Of No. 7 (buoyant, bracing, bright)
Preferring its glum neighbor, Largo e mesto
In whose ténèbres to wallow half the night;
Likewise bypassing scherzo-minuet
In No. 4, except its stormy trio
And similar convulsions and tempêtes
Like 5's Allegro molto e con brio.
Yet every callow joy at being alive
