Welcome to Up My Butt
Dec. 2nd, 2004 06:34 amDig the new icon. Yes, that's Up My Butt! (more graphics here.)
first: talked to the Moms yesterday, who said the surgery on
eloquentwthrage's right hand was successful. one finger, apparently, is able to hold up on its own, while the rest require (a pin? pins? not sure). the Moms also said the general anaesthesia with which EWR was knocked out made him way nauseous upon awakening, so he was in no state to communicate at that point. i means to call him today, soon as i figure out what his landline number is (jeebus, why do we still HAVE those?)
and but so about the anaesthesia, yeah, i concur. i was nauseous most of tuesday as well from the knockout drip i had so the doc could scope out my colon. this was a routine surveillance because i had ulcerative colitis 4 or 5 years ago, and my new GE specialist dude wanted to look Up My Butt to make sure things was copacetic there. but when i had my first colonoscopy done back then, they attached the IV to the back of my hand, and they used a really light sort of anaesthesia--i woke up several times during the procedure in some colonic pain... while that was not nice, exactly, it did mean that i was a normal person again within a couple of hours; whereas this time i was totally woozy and stupid for hours, so nauseous i couldn't even think of eating despite the fact that i had put NOTHING into my GI tract for more than 24 hours, and sleepy until the morning after--a full 24 hours after the procedure. this makes me grumpy. i need to learn about anaesthesia and make sure i control what the fuck's going into me during any future procedures. (this, BTW, from a guy who had all four wisdom teeth yanked under local anaesthesia.)
anyway,
maestro_live was an absolute angel of mercy tuesday morning... he met me at Metro on the way to the doc's office and sat in the waiting room through the whole procedure (which was late because the doc was late) and recovery, and basically carried my delirious, rubbery carcass out into the street, put me in a cab, and took me home. thanks, honey!
i still gotta lj about my almost having a new cat. later, though.
