Even more embarrassing news...

fr_defenestrato...about work! (Extracurricular activities last night don't embarrass me in the least, if you hadn't figured that out.)
So I just got a call back from The Guy at The Place I Just Realized I Need To Give a Name To... let's call it Splatcom Associates. So the guy from Splatcom just called to tell me the bosses over there have offered to match the (already nearly doubled) amount offered by Undershaft to stay on. I've never played this "highest bidder" game... I guess this is how it's done, but frankly I feel like a schmuck doing it—so much so that I am going to simply accept the revised offer from Splatcom (all other things being equal, the Undershaft company/position has significant drawbacks, not the least of which is the recent Althean imbroglio) and stop even entertaining the possibility of enriching my compensation further.
