fr_defenestratoThe Suspicious Cheese Lords held a dress rehearsal, minus the dress, last night at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in upper NWDC. It went well, and we met and rehearsed with our guest artists, three instrumentalists from Modern Musick (which plays Ancient Musick... ain't that the cleverest?) After several lords started bewailing the lack of red wine (a staple at all rehearsals at Stately Cheeselord Manor) Lord Fomo retrieved from his car a full "fifth" of blended Scotch whiskey, which we passed around like wharf rats. That made the second half of the rehearsal all the more interesting. Certain lords were clearly unused to swigging hard liquor, but there were no disasters.
The concert is this Saturday at 4 p.m. at the cited church. I think it's going to be really, really good.
Following the rehearsal a gang of Lords went in search of late-nite foodstuffs and found many closed kitchens. But Ireland's Four Fields (formerly Ireland's Four Provinces) served us Guinness on tap, which is almost like food. The denizens of SCM still had rumblies in they tumblies, so they stopped at EnormoSlice in Adams Morgan to procure an acre of pizza each. I declined said real estate and went home for make a nice grilled cheese sandwich with extra sharp Irish cheddar.
