Yesterday p.m. I received a call from a certain Steve at Incensewarehouse.com. Seems there was a problem with the order I placed on Saturday, to wit: the "sage and cedar" incense logs I wanted are no longer available. The manufacturer stopped manufacturing them, and Incensewarehouse's stock had just run out.
It must be noted, for proper perspective, that I found a brand of incense called "Pinon" (which is also the name of a
scent of incense that other manufacturers make) that sold a scent called "sage and cedar"... this was at least 15 years ago, at Pier One Imports. The incense logs are basically little bits of poster-board made of the actual ingredients for which they're named--very much like a smudge, but smooshed together more. I adored this incense, and was very distressed when Pier One stopped selling it. I never found Pinon-brand sage and cedar incense again. About a year ago
maestro_live turned me on to santosha.com, where you can get incense, yoga equipment, all kinds of groovy mind-body-spirit kinda stuff. I ordered a bunch of incense for maestro_live and me--lots of indian nag champa and some other stuff-but even Santosha didn't have any sage and cedar incense. Last week, since I'm running low on incense, I looked up Santosha again and found they had acquired or merged or somethinged with Incensewarehouse.com, and suddenly the variety of available incense (brands and scents) exploded! Indeed, they had some sage and cedar incense! Ecstatic, I built an $80 order (again for maestro_live and me to split) around this discovery.
Except they didn't have any. In fact, they phone rep said they had JUST run out of the last bit of it. Missed it by that much. And they didn't stock any sage and cedar from any other manufacturer, and phonedude was unaware of any other manufacturer that made them.
Yup. That's the story of my life.
