Further thoughts:
Frank Zappa knew fanfares and knew them well. Elgar did too, but in that case ick and ptooey to them both. Uncle Meat friggin' ESTABLISHED Zappa as as clever a composer as Saint-Saens, certainly, and maybe Satie. Boo-ya freiheit, innit?
Perhaps the western side of San Francisco's fallen off. In any case, unconfirmed reports from Bodega Bay have it to be 'the end of the world'; to fix which no fewer than six enormous, expensive emergency vehicles have screamed recent past.
