Follow-up on my wine-soaked computer

Apparently, my computer has lost its ability only to discern when it is drawing on AC power and when it must resort to battery. This causes an unusual effect: my screen, no longer flickering, is steadily dark (annoyingly so), and the battery 'power meter' indicator appears in the system tray; yet the power meter interface has reported a steady 98 percent battery 'total battery power remaining' (which has not dropped in 45 minutes of use) and the 'Total Time Remaining' is listed at 7170:38 hours.

Apparently I'm ok until 2010 June 24 7:13 a.m.
